Jenkintown tops Morrisville to earn first win

Jenkintown handed Morrisville its first loss of the season after a 47-14 win last Friday night.

The Drakes, who came into the game with an 0-2 record, used three touchdown runs by senior running back Jack Kinniry to get past the Bulldogs (3-1) in a Bicentennial Athletic League matchup at Robert Morris Field.

Kinniry had touchdown runs of 44, three and 84 yards to lead the Drakes, while Pat Stillmun was responsible for three touchdowns, throwing a 47-yard pass to Tom Kinniry for score while also running in scores from 44 and 61 yards out.

Jack Kinniry rushed for 201 yards on 17 carries, while also catching two passes for 49 yards. Stillmun finished with 85 yards rushing on eight carries.

Jenkintown scored 20 points in the first and led 33-7 at the half and never looked back. The Drakes outgained the Bulldogs 311-182 on the ground and 410-239 in total yards. Blaise Coggin and Kinniry also recorded interceptions for the Drakes.

“We got our guys healthy and well-rested over the bye week and we had things go our way,” Jenkintown coach C.J. Szydlik said. “The guys are starting to get the plays and system down and are playing better. Guys like Jack Kinniry and Pat Stillmun are real good players and are playing a lot better and getting a better understanding of what we want from them and they’ve been playing great.”

Jenkintown hosts Delaware County Christian School this Saturday at 1 p.m.

“We’re facing a good team this week and I’m hoping that our guys can learn from last weekend’s game and hopefully move forward and have things go well,” Szydlik said.
